Miami’s Lost Palms Brewing Co in liquidation after ATO applies to wind up company

A mainstay of the Gold Coast and Brisbane craft brewing scene has been placed in liquidation, after the tax office applied to court to wind up the company.

Miami-based Holiday Brewing Trading Pty Ltd, the company behind Lost Palms Brewing Co, had operated a brewpub and taproom in Miami on the Gold Coast and a taproom at Sherwood in Brisbane.

Lost Palms Brewing was founded by Jarrod Blanning and John Walz, who established the Miami brewpub in 2017 and later expanded into Brisbane.

The company’s offerings over the years included a range of Indian pale ales, hazy pale ales, and more exotic ferments like a fruited sour, chocolate and hazelnut pastry stout, blueberry sour ale, and more.

At a hearing in the Queensland Federal Court on Wednesday where the Deputy Commissioner of Taxation applied to wind up the company, there was no appearance by representatives from Holiday Brewing Trading.

Judicial registrar Geoff Segal ordered the company be wound up and appointed SMB Advisory’s Alice Ruhe as liquidator.

Mr Blanning is currently listed as director of Holiday Brewing Trading.
