A former Brisbane construction company has been ordered to go into liquidation, after an engineering firm applied to wind it up.
Beech Constructions, a company established in 1958, mostly worked on retail and commercial projects around Queensland, including petrol stations, shopping centres, car yards and restaurants.
It closed around 2022, but the Queensland Supreme Court ordered Beech Constructions to go into liquidation on Friday, after engineering consultancy ADG Engineers (Aust) applied to wind it up last month.
ADG Engineers (Aust) claimed it was owed $40,000.
Beech Constructions’ sole director Chris Beech told News Corp the company had wound down due to a lack of interest in the current market.
Ahead of the company’s closure in 2022, he said none of his children wanted to follow him into the family-owned business, which had seen shrinking margins and a rise in red tape.
The business had been started by Mr Beech’s father, John Beech, who had served as a president of Master Builders Queensland in the 1980s.
Chris Beech joined the business in 1978, working in project management, while his brothers were also involved.
At one stage, the business had included a factory which produced ovens.
Mr Beech was also the owner of a company which was a majority shareholder in Beech Constructions.
