XL Express, which operates a large independent logistics network around Australia, has brought in voluntary administrators after 35 years in business.
XL Express appointed FTI Consulting to conduct an “urgent assessment” of the company’s viability, which also includes 15 other entities under the company’s brand – see full schedule at bottom of story.
The first meeting of creditors will be held before July 9, 2025, said FTI.
FTI Consulting also said alternative arrangements will be made for XL Express customers who are impacted by the company entering voluntary administration.
“Where services are unable to be fulfilled, arrangements are being made for customers to collect their goods held in XL Express Group distribution centres,” it said.
It remains unclear what led to XL Express falling into administration.
Big Rigs contacted XL Express for comment but calls to the Brisbane head office and the Sydney depot went unanswered.
Big Rigs also tried to reach Managing Director Colin Mallory via email and LinkedIn.
As recently as April of last year, XL Express upsized its Victorian operations, moving into a larger industrial facility at 24 Stanley Drive, Somerton, according to a media release at the time by commmercial agent CBRE.
